Enzo Ponzio Reworks

One of our favourite artists over at Piece Together, Enzo Ponzio see's the release of a great reworks package with new mixes coming courtesy of Kid Who stepping up to rework "My 80's Funk" and Discodromo taking on "Italian Boy". The Sicilian artist started his career as a DJ in 1991. He worked for several years in parties and clubs in Sicily and then decided to move to Milan, where he soon started working as a composer and sessionman in productions of other artists. He published, with the label ‘Scenario Music’, his first solo album with the title ‘"Sopra la Soglia"’ creating thus a new project, ‘Ganesh’, founded by him. In the meantime he started collaborating with artists having a dance background and, above all, he started playing his dj sets. He became a resident Dj in several important lounge clubs in Milan, including among others ‘Roialto’. He produced several singles for ‘Scenario music’ and covered a lot of distance along the way. His sound is firmly based in electronic music, taking in Italo, cosmic disco and some spaced out electronica.

Enzo has had the support from artists such as Lindstrom, Prins Thomas, Aeroplane, Xaver Naudascher, Billy Bogus and Diskjokke to name but a few,and also great support from labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Internasjonal, Solardisco and Bear Funk, With most of his new releases coming courtesy of Pizzico Records. The Reworks come as a little tribute and celebration to Enzo's long view, Out now. Enjoy the sound....

Beatfanatic

Beatfanatic is just one of the aliases of Ture Sjöberg, a Stockholm based producer. Not only a crate-digger of epic proportions, Ture is also a prodigious producer of some of the most forward thinking disco around at the moment. He is also label manager for Soundscape Records, a label concentrated on releasing eclectic disco music. This year has seen him release an outstanding album (Beatfanatic 2010), EPs, some great reworks & remixes and some top class edits. He always manages to strike a great balance between his synth laden disco flavored dance tracks with more smooth midtempo Balearic groovers and some killer cosmic disco tracks all containing his amazing production values.

With new releases dropping in 2011 on labels such as Kodak Giant Sounds and Soundscape he is one guy to watch out for. The track "Zink Loyd" included here is taken from his new album and is available from Traxsource and Juno. Enjoy the music....

Drop Your Weapon

A second helping of Crazy P reworks, this time with Faze Action and Brennan Green behind the mixing desk. Faze Action step up first, applying upbeat boogie-disco-house pressure to "Drop Your Weapon". Featuring catchy cowbells, electro synth frills and a hot electro-disco bassline section, that will keep those disco dancers strutting their stuff. Brennan Green goes deep on side B, playing it cool with "3 Play It Cool". This is a subtle, percussive groove ridden track that gets under your skin. DJ support comes from Sasse, Graeme Clark/ The Revenge, Severino Panzetta, Trus'me, Pete Herbert, Ashley Beedle, Leo Elstob, James Teej, Chris Duckenfield and loads more. Enjoy....

Mark E

As the snow flies we have a great new mix from Mark E (Jisco/MERC) from the Warm HQ to heat you up! The term "re-edit" implies distance. To edit is to look upon from above, move parts around, exercise judgment over an object to give it shape—to play God. Add a "re-" and double the expanse. Mark E's music emits nothing like this. Its remit is to get as far inside the grooves he's working with as possible, so deep that he knows them better than the people who made them did, in order to isolate everything ripe and distend it forever. And he puts you so close up that you can see the veins. Mark's edits blossom, draw the ear closer, suspend time; they overwhelm you with their sheer patient grandeur. They're gilded memories of the records Mark E is working with, playing like the highlight reels of his mind.

This mix comes in preparation for his appearance at the Warm NYE party at The CAMP with Phonica Records in London alongside Mathew Jonson (Live), Ame (Live), Move D, Gerd Janson and the Phonica / Warm Residents. A great New Year not to be missed. Enjoy the mix.....
