The Blackdisco parties thrown by Nitedog and Lovefingers are seriously well-orchestrated fun that have lit up the Mountain Bar in Chinatown to random warehouses in downtown LA. Its at these party,s where DJs like Prins Thomas and Tim Sweeney have played deep into the night, always delivering great spaced out disco sounds.

Both Dj,s and producers, they have also been very busy releasing great edits and mixes from their label Blackdisco and playing various gigs across the land. While Lovefingers has relocated to NY, Nitedog still holds down the scene in LA.The Blackdisco party at Fish Co will see Lovefingers fly in for the event.

Blackdisco party takes place at Fish Co,174 Kinney St Santa Monica CA From 10pm-2am. Expect a summer jam of the highest musical authority...

Space Patrol

Igor Skafar aka Ichisan cuts a great slice of retro futuristic cosmic disco on his new release on the Solardisco label. Having included his track "Radar Pulse Is Sent" on the first volume of the Cosmic Balearic Beats mix by great label Eskimo Recordings,Ichisan has delivered some great new music.

With tracks such as "Space Patrol","Robots From Above" and "Atanamamo" on his new release, things are looking good for this great producer.

Warm

On Sunday August 30th, Warm return for their final tenth anniversary special of 2009. For this very special event at Corsica Studios they have brought together some of the key artists from the Warm Agency to help celebrate the bank holiday in style and go out with a bang!

In Room 1 they welcome Innervisions’ very own favourites, Henrik Schwarz who will be playing one of his legendary live sets alongside DJ sets from Dixon, Marcus Worgull and good friend and head honcho of Running Back, Gerd Janson. All four artists will take over room one all night long and all in their own right have made a huge impact on the music scene over the past few years so to bring them all together under one-roof is really something they are very excited about!

In Room 2 they welcome Beats in Space and DFA’s very own Tim Sweeney who continues week in week out to provide a radio master class with his show direct from NYC featuring artists from around the globe such as Carl Craig, Ame, James Murphy and many more! Alongside Mr Sweeney will be his T&T cohort, Tim Goldsworthy who is the sound of DFA and in his own right one of the key producers of the last ten years working non-stop with DFA artists and in particular LCD Soundsystem and other artists from around the globe such as Cut Copy on their recent smash hit LP!

If that’s not enough the trusty Warm residents themselves Ali Tillett and Rob Summerhayes will be stepping up in Room 2 to play alongside Mr Sweeney and Mr Goldsworthy.

Definitely one party not to be missed this forthcoming Bank Holiday!

Lime

Lime Were a disco group from Montreal, Canada, during the 1980s. The group was composed of husband and wife Denis and Denyse LaPage , although two younger and more attractive singers, Joy Dorris and Chris Marsh, were chosen to tour and appear as the act. They are most noted for their songs "Angel Eyes" from 1983 and "Your Love" from 1981. Very early in their career, they released an instrumental 12" single vinyl record called "The Break" under the name "Katmandu". Singer Denyse also wrote and sang on the record "Dancin' The Night Away" by Vogue.

The band faded from popularity in the 1990s, and Denis LePage signed over rights to classic Lime royalties. Their track "Angel Eyes" has been used as the basis of the Reverso 68 track "Piece Together" and recieved a few great edits, namely Loud E's rare version on Loud'e'fied records and the equally rare Tony Undergroud edit, both great re-workings of an already great track.Enjoy the music.Click On Right Hand Arrow To Download...

Dance! Dance! Dance!

Producer, songwriter, musician and Balearic Dj, sound pioneer Phil Mison aka Cantoma has championed the chill-out music genre since its inception in the early-90s, after being inspired by listening to Jose Padilla at the world famous Cafe Del Mar.
Mison, who began his storied Dj career at London’s famed Milk Bar in 1991, segued into producing after a decade Dj-ing around the world and touring with bands such as Leftfield. In 1995, he released the first of his Soundcolors compilation, the groundbreaking series that featured electronic music, mixed for mood over the traditional beat match. A CafĂ© Del Mar residency and 10 compilations later, Mison has exported this island flavour into crafting an original artist album as Cantoma. Phil is also one of the leading pioneers of the Nu-Disco Cosmic sound, currently recording as Reverso 68 and Frontera with Pete Herbert.
Dance! Dance! Dance! have been big fans of Phil for a long time and are proud to have such an inspirational Dj for thier re-launch party. In true Balearic style expect Phil to join the dots between underground Disco, Afro-Beat, early House and the ‘of the moment’ Nu-Disco Cosmic sound – and all in his signature Slo-Mo style. And as a bonus its Phil’s birthday the weekend he’s playing at Dance! Dance! Dance! so they ’ll be throwing him a bit of a party in sunny Glasgow, so come down and join the celebrations!!!

Viva la Balearica!!!!

Disco Deviance

Disco Deviance is all about keeping quality groove based music alive. Their definitition of 'disco' is very wide and inclusive in the tradition of open minded DJ pioneers like Larry Levan, David Mancuso, Nicky Siano and Tee Scott. Some call it 'Balearic'. But musically speaking, they don't care if it's disco, funk, electrofunk, electro, Italo, post-punk, cosmic, afro, house or whatever as long as it's got the funk and makes people want to dance and party. They seek out the very best tracks, editors and DJs to put Their music together. They want it to be essential. The Disco Deviance idea came about in 2004 when Dicky Trisco first met legendary electrofunk DJ Greg Wilson. A shared love of disco and electrofunk lead to a decision to hold one off events together to showcase the sounds they loved. Things grew from there ultimately leading to an imprint dedicated to keeping the vibe alive.

This is a great mix by Dicky Trisco which kicks the party into gear, blurring the lines between House,Electrofunk and Disco with a tight selection of tracks aimed straight at the Discotheque floor. Dicky trisco is also one half of the Electronic Boogie Band and Boogie Corporation(20/20),he also has many solo releases and projects,co-hosts the Autodisco clubnight, and runs the new Maxidiscs label alongside good friend Pete Herbert(Reverso 68,LSB,Frontera).

From Gino Soccio's 1982 album "Face To Face" comes the track "It's Alright",the album is also known for one of his biggest tracks "Remember"."It's Alright" has been lovingly re-edited by Ray Mang as the track "Awright" with more of an electronic disco groove. Taking in parts of Gino,s other tracks "Dancer",and "Try It Out",this is the original version with great licks, great synths, great vocals, and that unmistakable Gino Soccio sound! Get On

This is the latest heatrock from Atlantic Conveyor’s boutique Untracked label and the sequel to Frank Booker’s debut "The Brothers EP". With the likes of Todd Terje and Recloose charting the debut in their top five, this record has seeded some serious expectations. "Paper Cuts" is kaleidoscopic sun-dappled house music, with production worthy of a Metro Area record. "Get On" is heavy hitting 3am disco with a drop that is… total finesse. It’s strictly limited (as always) and pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

DFA Party

Cargo hosts the first official DFA Party since 2008 on Saturday the 22nd of August. Entry will be free until 11pm, and just £5 after. Shit Robot, Mock and Toof, Jacques Renault and Justin Miller will dj courtesy of DFA Records.

The dance-punk enthusiasts at DFA Records, home to the likes of The Juan Maclean and Hercules and Love Affair will be staging their first official DFA Party since James Murphy (co-founder) curated Matter in Oct 2008. So you know what that means… that this is a night you definitely do not want to miss!

Marcus Lambkin, aka Shit Robot, (the name arose from Murphy’s pretty shitty/poor attempt to draw a robot), will be heading the night with his signature acid house and electro beats. His new and much anticipated 12” vinyl ‘Simple Things (Work It Out)’ has been embraced with much love from those at Boomkat and Phonica, who claim his ‘steady heart-throbbing bass line and array of startling acidic sounds is an elegant yet gritty array of synthetic genius.’ Not bad for an ex-cabinet maker, eh?

Following will be the electro-tastic duo, Mock & Toof. Releasing ‘Underwater’ last year with the DFA, the Tiny Sticks and M&T Inc. label founders unleashed a storm with this disco-pop track.

Further upholding the DFA disco to dance-punk policy, Jacques Renault will take to the decks one more time, mixing up his unique sound to the needs of his audience. It seems he’s not just a pretty face…

And finally, Justin Miller will close the night with a seamless bout of tunes that will make you wish that everyday were a DFA PARTY!

Sarcastic Disco

HARVEY is a well-respected DJ who is known for his associations with major clubs in the UK such as Ministry of Sound and Fabric, but he is probably better known as being one of the last truly eclectic DJs on the dance music scene. Harvey stays true to the roots of the music traditions established by such foundation clubs as the Paradise Garage or the Loft (or at least the legends of those clubs), in that he seamlessly spins a broad range of new/old sounds and styles geared towards one thing – getting the crowd to move.

Perpetually ahead of the curve, he has no problem playing records side by side that most would never think to put together. Beach Boys, 70s soul & disco, techno, James Brown, chicago house, Kraftwerk, hip-hop, Steve Miller Band, and more. His main technique is that whatever works gets thrown into the mix.

When Harvey DJ’ed in LA for the first time, he amazed everyone with his track selection and mixing style. He brought a new sound that changed peoples perception of what dance music and DJing could and should be. Every time you see him DJ, it’s a new sound and new experience. Just when you think you know what he’s going to play next, he comes out with something fresh and new that is distinctly Harvey.

It seems that Harvey’s approach is that he’s actually there as a host of the music and the party, not just as a faceless DJ in the booth hidden away from the crowd. Exactly the opposite, he always has a smile on his face and knows how to have fun. He’s not just merely playing records, he feels the music and gets into it. It’s like he has one foot on the dancefloor and is actually involved with the crowd and taking part in the experience.

Harvey has inspired us not only with the music he plays, but also passing on his knowledge of the music, as well as sharing with us his study master techniques of the dance music culture.

The next party is in Detroit at 227 Iron St,Suite 102.on August 22nd. The event goes from 11pm to 7am. Sound by Sound Factory.

Disco Outcasts

Our good friends in Manchester Stefano & Leo The Disco Outcasts, gave us there new mix from the amazing Airbound festival in Croatia for your listening pleasure.Enjoy....

On a rainy night in a dark Manchester basement the Disco Outcasts first collaborated, playing space discoid music to a crowd of the Northern Quarter’s cool cats… The vibe was electric, beer was flowing and onlookers had their heads nodding to this special new allegiance. Not knowing things were about to explode Stefano and Leo decided to relocate to Manchester’s kitsch disco dive, better known as The Purple Pussycat. The pair instantly fell in love with the venue, thinking Daft Punk video meets 70’s strip club and with much delight were quickly snapped up as Saturday night residents. The combination of the quirky basement and sleazy disco sound track makes this one of the most entertaining nights out in the city!

With the duo attracting interest from some of the coolest underground parties around the country it was no surprise that they have done this before! Stefano is a real legend in the Manchester music scene, having released records that sold in excess of 70,000 units and playing everywhere from the Hacienda to Glastonbury, from Ibiza to ReykjavĂk… Stefano has toured with acts such as Oasis and Run DMC, demonstrating he’s one of the most versatile DJ’s around. Leo has quickly become one of the cities most exciting talents, with a record collection reminiscing those who are twice his age. His technical ability has allowed him to impress many a veteran, dubbed junior disco amongst his peers. Leo is the brains behind Manchester’s legendary Phuture parties, as well as holding residency for Ibiza’s notorious Zoo Project crew.

In a short space of time the duo helped create a nu-disco scene over at the newly refurbished Cellar in Blackburn. The nights included guest slots from their heroes including a reel-to-reel session from the master of electro funk Greg Wilson. Outside of their Disco Outcasts parties they are busy with residencies in cities around the country including Manchester, London, Liverpool and Blackburn, as well as regular bookings to guest at some of the most weird and wonderful parties!

Stefano is also a regular fixture on David Dunne’s NuCool show on Galaxy Radio, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Joey Negro, Alfredo, Paul Woolford and Graeme Park… If you love disco, the funk, electro boogie, italo, cosmic weirdness and general offside action then look no further than Stefano and Leo,The Disco Outcasts.

Night Music

Balearic Mike is the definition of a DJ’s DJ. He lives and breaths music. He would eat it too but he prefers pizza. Having first made his name back in the 90s under the umbrella of the Luv Dup crew in Manchester, Mike has gone on to become a channel for the spirits of Ron Hardy, Larry Levan, Daniele Baldelli and Vangelis. Mike’s knowledge of disco, Italo, Balearic and house is unparalleled but he matches this with an uncanny ability to read a crowd and give em what they want.

"Ten years ago, people just wanted the big club records," Mike is quoted as saying in a recent Guardian article on the Balearic sound, "But kids nowadays who are 20 want to hear bizarre things that aren't getting played on the radio."

Mike’s a regular at the legendary Afficionado night with Moonboots, Afternoon Sessions @ Big Chill Bar, London and ATP in New York, and has guested at Horse Meat Disco, London.

Catch Mike at his residency Night Music with pal Jan @ Dulcimer, Chorlton, Manchester every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month.

Maelstrom

Maelstrom first came to prominence with a now infamous reworking of Metro Area’s seminal Miura and quickly gained support from the likes of Todd Terje and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy despite being his debut production.

Determined not to be a flash-in-the-pan producer, he was quickly signed up by the revered Belgian imprint Eskimo Recordings where his Balearic-tinged disco house sits perfectly alongside the likes of Aeroplane, Peter Visti and, of course, Lindstrom and Prins Thomas. His knack for cleverly crafting edits has also grown with releases on Mindless Boogie, Beard Science and his own Solardisco label.

Originally set up as a vehicle for his own productions, 2009 will see Solardisco go in to overdrive with releases and remixes from the likes of Ilija Rudman, Sankt Goran, Blackbelt Andersen, Brendon Moeller, Runaway and Nick Chacona to name but a few with a joint release planned with the uber-hip DFA Records in the summer.

As an accomplished DJ he has recently taken in gigs in Stockholm, Athens, Dublin, London (including the legendary Horse Meat Disco) and as far afield as Vilnius in Lithuania. He also runs the Solardisco clubnights, alongside Craig Moog(Electrofunkdiscotek) and Kev Stevens.

With more releases imminent on Eskimo, Mindless Boogie, his own Solardisco label and Prins Thomas’ Internasjonal this year is shaping up nicely for the Glaswegian.

Maelstrom plays live at The Men & Machines club nite on Saturday 22nd August at Stereo Glasgow And Monthly at Solardisco. This is his set from the Rizla At Rockness Festival.

The Laughing Light Of Plenty

A collaborative project between Rub'n'Tug's Thomas Bullock (who also records as Bobby Marie and Map of Africa for WWW) and Eddie Ruscha (who spent time in Medicine, Maids of Gravity and Future Pigeon). "The Rose" is simply one of the most splendid tracks of the summer. Opening with a mélange of bells and infinitely sustained piano chords that might be out of a Pharaoh Sanders early '70s jazz effort, and adding on a guitar lick that percolates like Mr. Coffee, it only takes off from there. Once Ruscha's voice comes in talking about "electric shadow, a full moon in my bed," the song elevates somewhere between spiritual jazz, a bananas disco dance floor cut and the Alan Parsons Project. The piano stutters, the bass slides down and then the whole thing bursts forth anew with ping-ponging squelches and other sorts of analog orgasmic madness, making for one of the most satisfying 12-inches of the year.Click On Right Hand Arrow To Download...

Work That Body

The track "Work That Body" is a deep ride, with funky bass licks, chunky percussive breaks, deep vocal samples and funked up horn arrangements laced throughout the track. On work that body, Rodney has taken the rare disco soul of “you got the stuff” by Bill Withers which was also used by Dj Harvey and Gerry Rooney on the Black Cock Records track "Shine On"and spliced it up to create this jackin’ monster.Click On Right Hand Arrow To Download...

Downtown Party Network

“Downtown Party Network” is a duo from Lithuania. One half of the project is DJ Saulty, the second being an experienced music producer Bradka.

Saulty has been in the Lithuanian scene for about 10 years now, first learning to spin in his hometown, then moving to Vilnius and acquiring residency in one of the busiest downtown places – “Cozy”. His career has only gone up ever since, involving lots of bookings all around Lithuania and starting his own nights in a relatively new club “Woo”, also in downtown Vilnius. The disco groove dedicated series, “Barbarella” (with a co-promoter Mantas T.) and “Spaced Out”, have attracted a bunch of internationally praised DJs to come along and play, such as Pete Herbert, Daniel Wang, Pilooski, Toby Tobias, Richard Sen (“Padded Cell”), Optimo, Rune Lindbaek, Faze Action etc. While meeting all those favorite musicians of his own, Saulty realized it’s about time to start expressing himself in music as well, and that is how the friendship with Bradka moved into another level.

Bradka, an educated piano player, began producing music in 2002 and abandoned his professional pianist career for the sake of a recording studio. A few hundreds of his created or produced works for different performers, TV identities and commercials are found in his biography. In 2007, Bradka began paying more attention to his own creative work, and since then has been cooperating with San Francisco based world famous DJ and producer Andy Caldwell and with a French recording label “Tubetracks”.

It’s obvious that no mistake could be made during the brainstorming sessions of the two young music lovers from Lithuania. The sessions have lead to the fresh project “Downtown Party Network”, combining the best from legendary disco times, groovy electric additions, proper beat and the undescribable Lithuanian point of view.

Zodiac

Almost 30 years after the release of their first album 'Disco Alliance', the music of soviet electronic-disco group Zodiac still maintains its unique sound. Standing the test of time, Zodiac's music has been held dear to the hearts of many disc jockeys, collectors and electronic enthusiasts. One of the standout tracks 'Pacific' which truly defined their atmospheric, synthesizer disco sound, will now be available on 12" single by the label Mellophonia. to honour its re-release, the song will be accompanied by two outstanding remixes by Ilya Santana and Pete Herbert. Ilya's version emphasizes the synth melodies with a modern, crowd friendly mix that still remains true to the original. Pete Herbert's takes his mix in a different direction with a very nice old school house version complete with piano and grooving bassline. both remixes really bring together the melodic disco and electronic sounds of both eras making this record a must have for both djs and fans of electronic, cosmic and nu-disco music.

Melting Pot Vs Horse Meat Disco

The Admiral Presents

Melting Pot v Horse Meat Disco

The two heavyweights of UK disco join forces for one debauched party!

With special guests Horse Meat Disco plus Ali Tillet (Warm, London)
And residents Andrew Pirie and Simon Cordiner over both floors

£10 on the door

Horse Meat Disco:
Since its humble beginnings over 6 years ago, Horse Meat Disco has become an institution on both sides of the sexual divide due in large to its dedication and appreciation of disco music in all its forms. HMD takes place every Sunday at the Eagle in London, where they have drawn a who’s who list of guests including: Dimitri From Paris, Greg Wilson, Idjut Boys, Cosmo… the list goes on… but it is the residents’ DJing skills that have won over the UK disco scene with HMD taking over areas at Glastonbury with the fabulous NYC Downlow, and also the massive Lovebox weekender. HMD have recently raised the bar with their own edits label and an outstanding compilation album on Strut. With touring dates stretching the length and breadth of the globe – these guys are turning into the hardest working on the disco scene, having played all over Europe, Australia, and the States in the last couple of months.

One thing’s for sure, this one’s going to be messy!

Optimo - The Juan Maclean(Live)

On Sunday 16th August at the Subclub in Glasgow, Optimo are delighted to be able to welcome one of DFA's finest - The Juan Maclean.

Juan Maclean is the robotic persona of New Hampshire resident John Maclean. His Juan MacLean sound initially came to attention due to its dark NY underground groove, equal parts chilling electro-disco and sci-fi paranoia. The bleeping analogue rhythms of early dancefloor hits like "by the time i get to venus" and "every little thing" have since provided MacLean with a confidence, profile and success that has allowed him to step out of his earlier "robotic" persona into a more optimistic and collaborative phase.

Recent album "the Future Will Come" finds Maclean working with NY punk-funk scene luminaries Nancy Wang (of LCD Soundsystem), Gerry Fuchs (formerly of !!!) and members of Holy Ghost.

This promises to be a very special evening, so please get down early to avoid disappointment as this night is expected to be very busy. Doors open at 10.30pm.
